The “Intelligent Automation in Europe: research brief” by the Intelligent Business Process Automation Observatory of Politecnico di Milano analyzes process automation maturity across Italy and Europe in 2025. The Report explores the role of AI, the rise of Agentic AI and Agentic Automation, the implementation gaps, and the automation roadmaps within organizations.

Metodologia

La Ricerca 2025/2026 dell’Osservatorio Intelligent Business Process Automation del Politecnico di Milano analizza il panorama europeo dell’automazione dei processi, con particolare attenzione all’integrazione dell’Intelligenza Artificiale e alla diffusione di modelli di Agentic Automation. Lo studio combina analisi desk e indagini empiriche basate su due survey CAWI. È stata inoltre eseguita un’analisi di 504 startup europee attive in ambito Process Intelligence & Automation e 20 casi di adozione aziendale approfonditi attraverso interviste.

The 2025/2026 Research conducted by the Intelligent Business Process Automation Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano analyzes the European landscape of process automation, with particular focus on the integration of Artificial Intelligence and the spread of Agentic Automation models. The study combines desk analysis and empirical investigations based on two CAWI surveys. It also includes an analysis of 504 European startups active in the field of Process Intelligence & Automation and 20 business adoption cases explored in depth through interviews.
