HR Innovation Practice Research

The HR Innovation Practices Observatory was founded in 2010 to address the radical transformation process of the role of the HR Department resulting from the spread of new technologies and organization models, and aims to support HR Executives in this process. The Observatory is focused on being a point of reference in the development of the innovation culture in HR and foster the coming together and development of a community between demand and offering of technologies for the development and management of Human Resource management.

HR Innovation Practice Observatory Research

Within its annual edition the HR Innovation Practice Observatory conducts the following Research activities:

identify the goals and challenges for HR management;
analyze possible applications of some technology trends (artificial intelligence, analytics, VR/AR, Blockchain, etc.) in support of human resource management processes;
analyze the confines of the labor market, the evolution of the Great Resignation and Talent Shortage situations, and the competences and skills most wanted by organizations;
analyze actions and practices of the HR department fostering innovation in talent acquisition, education and development, performance management, and wellbeing;
study the initiatives of the HR Department to support of sustainability and ESG;
analyze the elements of attraction, needs, and expectations of new generation candidates/ staff;
identify the level of wellbeing, inclusivity, and engagement of Italian workers (physical, psychological, relational).

The Observatory's Research is based on an empirical analysis that involves, via surveys or case studies, over 100 stakeholders each year, including HR Directors, Training Managers, Internal Communication Managers, Personnel Administration Managers, Recruitment Managers.

HR Innovation Practice Observatory Activities

The activities and events scheduled for the annual edition of the HR Innovation Practice Observatory are as follows:

in-field Research involving Human Resource managers and HR department managers (staff/personnel management, recruiting, training, …);
a survey on a statistically representative sample of professional workers (employees, supervisors, and managers);
four workshops dedicated to select HR executives (by invite only) of major Italian organizations and contact people from Observatory supporters to share and validate some research results and successful experiences resulting from innovative interaction modes;
two advisory board meetings, a community consisting of only HR directors, to co-design and validate research topics;
development of public sector and company case studies that have implemented digital innovation projects in HR;
an invitation-only Conference to present research results with active debate and experience comparison sessions with Observatory research supporters, and to confer the HR Innovation Award.

The Observatory will develop the following contents:

a printed report containing main Observatory research results that will be distributed at the conference;
a set of digital reports on the topics investigated in depth throughout the year of research.

HR Innovation Awards

With the intention of rewarding and spreading best practices in innovation, the HR Innovation Practices Observatory promotes an initiative started in 2011 to share and introduce stand-out projects that make use of digital technology to drive innovation and improvement of the main processes in the area of HR management and development.

The winning companies will receive a prize awarded at the convention on the day when research findings are presented. Our purpose is to create a virtuous mechanism for sharing and rewarding best practices and excellence within HR departments, as these often do not recognize the benefits of applying modern technology as a lever to improve and bring innovation to HR management and development operations.
