Extended Reality & Metaverse Observatory Research

The Extended Reality & Metaverse Observatory aims to develop and share knowledge Extended Reality related topics (Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, Virtual Reality) and on the Metaverse in terms of technology characteristics, market opportunities, actual experiences, and benefits, promoting open discussion among supply chain players, ultimately aiming to spur market development.

Extended Reality & the Metaverse Observatory Research

As part of the annual edition, The Extended Reality & Metaverse Observatory conducts Research in various sectors to analyze the evolution and status quo of Extended Reality and of the Metaverse. In particular it aims to:

study the knowledge, approach, and use by demand side companies of Extended Reality and Metaverse technologies, identifying achievable benefits and barriers to its adoption;
analyze the supply chain of Extended Reality technologies and changes in the Metaverse;
study the evolution of Extended Reality and Metaverso technologies and possible synergies with other digital trends (e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Digital Identity);
understand the consumer approach to Extended Reality and Metaverse technologies;
closely examine Data Protection and Data Privacy legal issues related to Extended Reality and Metaverse technologies.

Extended Reality & the Metaverse Observatory activities

Annual events organized by the Extended Reality & Metaverse Observatory include:

three follow up thematic workshop events with Observatory Partners and Sponsors and end-user companies aiming to describe the application scenarios of the various technologies and the opportunities they offer to consumers and the business worlds;
a work group to analyze with some demand side companies the development phases of an Extended Reality project and possible future developments;
an online workshop dedicated to the analysis of legal and regulatory aspects to examine intellectual property, personal data protection, and data privacy issues;
a public conference to present research results with round tables and keynotes by the leading figures of this sector.
