Big Data & Business Analytics Observatory: 2023 Research

Now in its tenth edition, the Big Data & Business Analytics Observatory Research aims to emphasize the strategic value of Analytics for companies and Public Sector bodies highlighting the potential benefits regarding competitiveness, profitability, promptness, agility, and greater decision-making efficiency. In particular, the Observatory intends to be a permanent point of reference for decision makers to enable them to leverage the innovative potential of Big Data Analytics.

Big Data & Business Analytics Observatory Research

Within the 2023 Research the Observatory aims to understand and portray the status quo of Data & Analytics in Italy. In particular it aims to:

quantify and analyze the Analytics market in Italy, i.e. what organizations spend on data management and analysis solutions and services;
monitor the Data & Analytics maturity of large companies and SMEs;
identify the current Data & Analytics trends at international level;
investigate Advanced Analytics applications in the different processes and sectors, evaluating and understanding the business impact;
identify and understand the impacts of technological developments in Data & Analytics;
estimate the spread of Data Science and Data Governance competences and organizational management models;
understand the role performed by startups in the Data Analytics area at international level.

Observatory Research is based on an empirical analysis that through surveys and case studies every year involves over 100 players including IT Managers (CIOs), Digital and Innovation Managers, Analytics Managers, and business line Executives of companies and Public Sector bodies operating in Italy, and supply sector business organization representatives.

To foster ongoing debate and focus Research on the most valuable trends for companies the Observatory has established a small steering committee consisting of high level Data Science professionals from large organizations representing major market sectors.

Research activities

Activities planned by the Observatory as part of the 2023 Research include:

a survey addressed to small and large Italian companies in all market sectors involving over 1000 players including IT managers (CIOs), and Analytics chiefs;
develop frameworks and methodologies to support companies pursuing the roadmap to a Data Driven Enterprise;
multiple case studies of companies that adopted Data Analytics solutions, aiming to highlight the main benefits resulting from adoption;
an analysis of main national and international startups operating in the Data Analytics sector that have received funding from institutional investors in the past two years, and main M&A activities in this sector.

Events

The events planned for the 2023 edition of the Observatory are the following:

3 closed-door workshops with representatives of user demand-side companies to promote discussion and debates on Data Analytics. Events in 2023 examine the following topics:
- Data Strategy: Advisory Board experiences;
- Drivers to a modern Data Experience;
- Technology trends and innovation experiences;
- Data Strategy Journey.
2 meetings dedicated to the Advisory Board and main supply-side representatives focused on addressing activities, promoting discussion, and sharing, on topics that will be examined throughout the year, and to validate Research results;
An open update event, accessible in streaming, to discuss Data Economy related topics (European Data Strategy, Data Sharing between business and between public and private players;
The public Research results presentation conference with round tables and presentations from leading business players, and Data Analytics systems solution provider representatives that are Observatory partners.

Content

The Observatory will develop the following content:

a printed Report with main Observatory Research results to be handed out at the Conference;
a series of digital Reports on topics examined throughout the year of research;
a periodic Newsletter addressed to supporters and community companies, collecting the most important news on Big Data Analytics in the international and Italian scenario.
